Our Goal:
Provide resources on designing scifi-subjects such as Mechs, cyborgs and robots. The site has both content for 2D development as well as 3D content creation. Once textured rigged and animated, these Manifestations of your imagination can be used in game MODS or movies. Or you can simply learn to bring your imagination to reality. We will discuss both "Eastern" or "Western" styles, and learn learn how you can create your own individual and unique designs.
What is a "Mech" or "Mecha"?
Mecha, also known as meka or mechs, are walking vehicles controlled by a pilot. Mecha are generally, though not necessarily, bipedal.
In most science fiction stories in which they appear, mecha are war machines: essentially armored fighting vehicles with legs instead of treads or wheels. Some stories, such as the Japanese manga Patlabor, also encompass mecha used for civilian purposes such as heavy construction work, police functions, or firefighting. Anything large enough to have a cockpit where the pilot is seated is generally considered a mecha.
What is a "Cyborg"?
Generally, the term "cyborg" is used to refer to a man or woman with bionic, or robotic, implants. The "cyborg soldier" often refers to a soldier whose weapon and survival systems are integrated into the self, creating a human-machine interface. Darth Vader, RoboCop, The Bicentennial Man, The Six Million Dollar Man, in 1973, and its spin-off, The Bionic Woman and Frankenstein can all be considered Cyborgs.

Briareos is a prime example of the technology of
cybernetic implants in Appleseed. My favorite ofcourse is the 1980's animation series the Bionic 6. The animation was first class for its time and the episodes were all very well done. Surprisingly not many people know about it.
What is a "Robot"?A robot is a mechanical or virtual, artificial agent. It is usually an electromechanical system, which, by its appearance or movements, conveys a sense that it has intent or agency of its own.
The word robot can refer to both physical and virtual software agents, but the latter are usually referred to as bots to differentiate.
What is TYPE 17? Type 17 is the first tutorial which will be available to enthusiasts at vendors like TurboSquid. It is a Unique Mech which borrows from a series of Mech studies. Type 17 is a start that will branch of into a new generation of mechs from there on.
What comes with the Type 17 ?The Type 17 is a 3D Model. The model is available with texture maps and will be fully rigged and animated. Please go to the 3D View Page to see more about the model kit.
